Industrial Solar is one of the partners and beneficiaries of the European Horizon 2020 project 'FRIENDSHIP'. Today, Industrial Solar GmbH received the first tranche of 220.000 € of its total funding volume of 456.000 €.
Solar heat is already used for Agro-Food industrial processes, mainly under 120°C. The FRIENDSHIP project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/884213) aims to demonstrate that solar heat can also be a reliable, user-friendly, high-quality and cost-effective resource to meet heat requirements for other industrial sectors such as Textile, Plastics, Wood, Metal and Chemistry. The total funding volume is €5 million.
The consortium, led by the French institute CEA, includes the members Industrial Solar, Absolicon, RINA, SINTEF, NICS, AMIRES, COG, INES Formation, Clariant Produkte and Sonae.
The aim of the FRIENDSHIP project is to increase the temperature delivered to industrial processes by combining several technologies such as concentrating solar thermal technologies, heat pumps, highly efficient absorption chillers and combined storage.
Industrial Solar is granted 456.000 € and will work on intelligent integration of its linear Fresnel collector technology, providing high temperature heat up to 300 °C. The financing from EU covers 100% of the costs plus 25% overhead. Today, Industrial Solar GmbH received the first tranche of 220.000 €.
